Alternet Internet Archive began with a survey analyzing online gender discourse and the popularization of terminological media that perpetuates a salient issue in digital spaces.

However, now more than ever it is easy to develop extreme perspectives about groups of people on the internet. This is especially prevalent regarding conversations of gender. The Alternate Internet Archive is a response to internet gender discourse and how anonymity, excessive access to social media platforms and how publicized exposure to large amounts of people can hinder logical thinking and translate into detrimental ideologies and information.

In an alternate world, we can imagine the internet as a place to participate in and observe the empathetic facets of our minds. This website is based on a survey which asked a simple question: “What is one thing that has been troubling you recently?” The Alternate Internet Archive is an online space where online users can be exposed to strangers, and normalize recognizing and understanding each other's perspectives a little better.
